Dr. Sechaba Maape is a distinguished academic and researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University) in Johannesburg, South Africa. With a PhD in Architecture, Dr. Maape specializes in indigenous knowledge systems, sustainable architecture, and urban planning. His work integrates traditional African architectural practices with modern sustainability principles, aiming to create environmentally friendly and culturally resonant built environments. Dr. Maape is also a dedicated educator, inspiring the next generation of architects and planners through his innovative teaching methods and commitment to community engagement. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Maape has garnered international recognition for his involvement in the Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious cultural exhibitions in the world. As co-curator of the South African Pavilion, his is participation in the Biennale has showcased his visionary approach to architecture, highlighting the importance of blending indigenous knowledge with contemporary design.
