KWENA SQUARE

KWENA SQUARE

Kwena, meaning crocodile in Sotho, represents the elements of water and nature which are abundant within the Little Falls, Strubens Valley and surrounding areas. The Crocodile River has its source in the Witwatersrand Mountain range, flowing from Constantia Kloof and terminating at the Indian Ocean. It holds strong significance in the area and represents both strength and courage. Developed by Redefine Properties and designed by SVA International, Kwena Square is a new retail development on Hendrik Potgieter Road in Little Falls, Roodepoort. The centre offers more than 10,000m2 of convenience and lifestyle shopping, which draws on the elements of nature in an outdoor shopping experience. The centre boasts a free-flowing, open-air, indoor-outdoor design, inspired by the elements of earth, water and air and was developed with the customer foremost in mind.

TRUMALI FORUM

TRUMALI FORUM

Designed by TV3 Architects, Trumali Forum is the second building of three to be completed at Atterbury’s Trumali Office Park outside Stellenbosch. Trumali Office Park is located on Strand Road (R44) and Trumali Street; set back from the peri-urban scenic route at the foot of the Hottentot Hollands mountains. The first building within the precinct, Trumali House, was formerly the Mediclinic Head Office before being sold to Atterbury in 2017. In 2018 the building was renovated and converted into A-grade multi-tenanted offices. The recently completed Trumali Forum takes inspiration from the design of Trumali House and along with the planned third building, which will be similar in design style, they will make a valuable addition to this highly visible site.

SPAREPRO

SPAREPRO

Located on the northern boundary of the S&J Industrial Estate in Germiston, the new Sparepro facility sits proudly as the first single tenanted building amongst the up-and-coming new purpose-built facilities. Through bold architectural design elements and innovative planning, the aim of providing a world class facility embodying Sparepro’s quest for consistent innovation and continued culture of service excellence has been achieved. Developed by Abland Property Developers on behalf of Redefine Properties, the client - an importer and distributor of motor spares and related products - was looking at relocating to a more centrally accessible location which promoted financial stability and sustainable business growth to their core customer market in the Johannesburg region. The new location at the S&J Industrial Estate in Gosforth Park helped generate a concept of connection and integration of business.

NEXUS BUILDING 1

NEXUS BUILDING 1

Nexus Waterfall is a 32,000m2 mixed-use precinct located across the road from Mall of Africa in Waterfall City CBD, Gauteng. Developed by Attacq, the precinct comprises the Courtyard Hotel Waterfall, restaurants and three P-Grade office buildings, arranged around an expansive central landscaped piazza. The buildings have been designed with glazed and solid façades to create variety and visual interest while remaining true to the uncluttered visual language that you find throughout Waterfall City. The entire complex is built on top of a 2,5 level superbasement with three entrances. Following on from the successful completion of The Courtyard Hotel Waterfall in 2021, the brief to LYT Architecture from developers Attacq for Nexus 1 was for a commercial office building with a distinctive architectural style and a minimum 4-star Green rating.

168 GRAYSTON

168 GRAYSTON

The design had to incorporate flexibility in the potential uses of the building, and it caters for furniture and car showrooms, offices and restaurants, making the most of the high visibility of the building from Grayston Drive. North Face Capital explored the feasibility of installing a large electronic billboard facing Grayston Drive which had not previously been done along that stretch of road. The billboard was incorporated into the design of the building from the commencement of the design process. The viewing distance of the billboard from vehicles moving along Grayston Drive was carefully calculated and the design ensured that this element was optimised. Due to the densification of Sandton and the continual increase in land prices it is becoming increasingly difficult to locate motor and furniture showrooms in close proximity to the CBD. This site provided an opportunity to address that issue.

5IVE ON THIRTEENTH CLUBHOUSE

5IVE ON THIRTEENTH CLUBHOUSE

The brief for this project was to design a luxury clubhouse experience that includes a restaurant, sky bar and gym facilities for newly developed lifestyle apartments in Northcliff, Johannesburg. The client, Houss Rentals and Century Property Developments requested an opulent dining experience that should maintain an inviting yet relaxed atmosphere. The mood board included elements of glamour that were contrasted by warm, moody colours and green foliage elements to emulate a tropical forest.
