What is the Practice Recharge Network?

The CPD Central Practice Recharge Network is South Africa’s dedicated platform for manufacturers, suppliers and industry specialists offering accredited CPD learning to the built environment.

You can list your accredited CPD course on the Practice Recharge Network free of charge.

Your course will be visible to architectural practices browsing CPD Central, with options to attend in person, live online or through a scheduled CPD Central group class.

If a practice is interested in booking your course, we’ll let you know. At that point, should you wish to proceed with the booking, you can become a paid Practice Recharge Member and we’ll connect you directly with the practice.

You retain control over bookings, scheduling and delegate engagement, while using the network to build direct, specification-led relationships with architectural practices.

THREE WAYS TO RECHARGE

Every Practice Recharge Member can choose how they would like to deliver their accredited CPD sessions.

  • Practice Visit

    | In-Person: One Practice | Architectural practices can book a face-to-face session, where you go to their office. Once a request comes through, you'll be contacted to arrange the presentation.

  • Practice Online

    | Live Online: One Practice | Architectural practices can book a live, facilitated virtual session delivered via Microsoft Teams or your preferred tool for remote participation. Once the booking is confirmed through CPD Central, you'll be contacted to schedule the session.

  • Group Recharge

    | Live Online: Multi-Practice | Offer your course as a scheduled group presentation. Architects register through CPD Central to attend alongside delegates from multiple practices, limited to 30 seats per class.

Listing your accredited CPD course on the Practice Recharge Network is completely free. This allows architectural practices to discover your course and express interest without any upfront commitment from you.

If an architectural practice requests to book your course, we'll notify you. Should you wish to proceed with the booking and secure the lead, you'll simply activate your Practice Recharge Membership.

There are three membership options to suit organisations of different sizes and levels of CPD activity:

By becoming a Practice Recharge CPD provider, you can connect with and educate your target audience, creating a positive relationship based on your value and expertise. This can further educate your customers, increase future business opportunities and strengthen your relationship with your clients.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Architects is any activity that enhances the professional knowledge and personal skills needed for the advancement of architecture, society and the environment. It is also compulsory to remain registered with SACAP.

Category 1 points are compulsory for all registered architectural professionals. SACAP currently requires:

  • A minimum of 3 CPD points each year
  • At least 1 of those points must be from Category 1
  • Over a five-year cycle, professionals must accumulate 25 CPD points, including a minimum of 5 Category 1 points. 

For standard learning:

  • 1 hour = 0.1 Category 1 CPD point
  • 5 hours = 0.5 Category 1 CPD point
  • 10 hours (approximately a full day) = 1 Category 1 CPD point 

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is the statutory body that regulates the architectural profession in South Africa. It oversees professional registration, education standards, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for registered architectural professionals. CPD Central offers SACAP-accredited Category 1 CPD courses to help professionals maintain compliance with these requirements.
