The most recently completed building in the booming mixed-use Oxford Parks
precinct is located at 7 Parks Boulevard at the corner of Eastwood Road
in Dunkeld. The tenant is Anglo American, another blue-chip company to
complement the big-league residents already established in this district. Named
Ikusasa, the Zulu word for future, the 7,500m2 of office space on four floors and
three levels of basement parking is the proud new home for Anglo American’s
Global Services division.
16onBree is a 36-storey mixed-use development located on Bree Street and is the tallest residential building in Cape Town to date. The development is surrounded by an array of trendy art galleries, antique shops, artisan restaurants and contemporary bars. It is in walking distance of the CTICC, the V&A Waterfront, the Green Point stadium, de Waterkant, Bo-Kaap and the rest of the city centre within close proximity, making it an ideal place for visitors to stay in Cape Town.
The brief from the client was to design a sophisticated building that caters for holiday makers wanting to experience living in the CBD as well as business professionals attending conferences and sealing deals. It was therefore essential that the development offered entertainment options as well as co-working and conferencing facilities to round off a complete experience for the modern-day traveler and agile professional. Lead by MLB Architects, the design underwent a
number of iterations to ensure the optimum mix of living, working and entertainment all under one offering.
Located in the heart of Bedfordview, careful thought and consideration have gone into creating the iconic design of the new IUM building. Art, architecture and
design form part of the client’s corporate identity and Cimato Moroldo Architects
have aligned their design principles with the client’s vision to create a truly iconic building in the commercial building landscape of South Africa.
The recently completed Netcare Alberton Hospital, designed by A3 Architects
Johannesburg, is the amalgamation of two existing hospitals, the Union and the
Clinton hospitals. The old hospitals sat in the heart of the Alberton CBD within
a block of each other. The Clinton Hospital focused more on maternity and oncology,
and the Union Hospital, which started in a house and expanded into the multi-story
hospital that serviced the medical needs of Alberton and the surrounding suburbs,
specialised in level 1 certified trauma.
Thinkspace envisioned an office environment that is vibrant, playful and ergonomic, embodying the modern approach of an industry leader like Webhelp. A key concept within the design and build was that of connection, and how employees can be connected through
functional yet creative areas that serve as agile environments. The approach centered around the concept of contagious
energy and creating a space that is magnetic in its appeal, as well as being uplifting and exciting.
