Rabie’s biggest development since the Bridgewater Precinct’s Century City Square, Bridgewater One is a mixed-use precinct situated along the banks of a new waterbody, which was once home to Ratanga Junction. The new development offers inspiring new ways to live, work, play and stay in the security and convenience of Century City. Bridgewater One is a uniquely integrated family of buildings positioned between the buzz of Century City Square and the serenity of the new Ratanga Park.
Situated at the corner of Rivonia Road and Fredman Drive in Sandton, 8 Merchant Place is the latest addition in an almost 30-year history of intervention on the Merchant Place site. Architects Boogertman + Partners changed the Sandton skyline at the end of the 1990s when 1 Merchant Place, an 18-storey tower, was completed. The firm have been engaged since then with Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) and Eris Property Group as the campus has grown and expanded over the subsequent years.
The existing facility in the area had to operate across two sites and from buildings with limited height and floor space. Struggling to keep up with the ever-growing needs of the market over the last couple of years, it was time for Freshmark in Limpopo to be upgraded to the standard of its other facilities around the country. This new site will deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to the Shoprite Checkers Group stores in and around Polokwane. It will also serve as a cross dock site for perishable goods from its distribution centre in Midrand, Gauteng - increasing the product range they are able to offer to the outlying stores.
Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha recently unveiled a modern new Faculty of Law building. The site is located on the South Campus of the University and to the east of the Embizweni Building which currently houses the Faculty of Law on its first floor. The site is bordered by a large public square to the south and a parking area to the north, with a number of existing walkways around the site. Although the only requirement in the placing of the building was that it had to be to the east of the Embizweni Building, it was decided to further define the site by retaining the existing walkways and allowing them to shape the building.
